SAVE YOUR PHONE BOX!

SAVE YOUR PHONE BOX!

We are delighted to be working in conjunction with councils wanting to 'adopt' their local Red Telephone Boxes. This is a recent story of how a small group of people worked harmoniously to revitalise their K6 kiosk. We were privaliged to supply the correct paint & spare componants for the project...

Hi Carl,
we had a great time renovating our village phone box. There are only 22 houses in our hamlet and lots of people turned out to help either with the preparation (which was quite hard going) or the top coat. Some provided snacks to keep us going and when it was finished several bottles of bubbly were opened. We reckoned that more care and attention was lavished on the phonebox than on our respective DIY jobs at home. We were so pleased that the box was allowed to stay as it is a much loved feature and reference point in our village. We were particularly impressed but the fine detail on the lovely crowns which have been picked out in gold by the steady hand of one of the team.
Although it sits there sparkling in its new coat of paint, during the
renovation we descovered that one large and 2 small window pains were perspex and not glass. We also descovered that perspex does not react favourably to paint stripper! We all agreed that at some stage we would replace these with proper glass and maybe next year we might paint the
inside.
During the work we discussed what the box could be used for which brought forth several suggestions mostly daft but one which might have some mileage in it is to collect by-gone pictures of the village and a brief history - a sort of village museum.
Anyway, I have attached a few photo's showing how the work progressed.
