We were asked by the Ben Sherman Group Limited to create a Union Jack Telephone Box.  The idea behind this was to help in the promotion of one of their newest retail outlets in Manchester. With a deadline of three weeks, we know it would be a race against time. The Union Jack's dimensions, stretched over an eight foot four inch telephone box would be the greatest test of all. With plans to create four Union Jacks on every side, and a Union Jack across the roof, we knew this would become an immense project.

Initially the kiosk was destined to grace the outside of their newest store, opening at the Trafford Centre in Manchester. It was intended 'The 'Ben Sherman Project'  telephone box stay on loan at Trafford for a maximum of six weeks, however due to complex insurance stipulations it would not become possible.

Computer generated images of the Union Jack were created and adjusted to allow the symmetry of both the kiosk and the flag to merge. After considering the time factor allowed for this project we opted to use vinyl as opposed to 2 pack enamel or synthetic paint. Working in conjunction with Adam Cox from J D Signs,  we were not only able to meet the deadline, but have now created an item of patriotic significance and historical beauty.

Ben Sherman left the photography in the capable hands of local professional photographer Rex Richardson. Rex has an unparalleled track record in the ability to capture life on camera. With his help we produced our own 'studio backdrop' outside of our workshops.

Recently, enormous Ben Sherman billboards and posters depicting our unique telephone box in and around Manchester have been gracing the sides of buildings, and we at Remember When UK are proud to have been initially chosen, and solely responsible for creating the 'Ben Sherman Telephone Box'.
